2/26/2023 0 Comments Pycharm vs geanyIts written in Python ( as you can see very well for yourself from the mascot logo) and can also be used for coding in Ruby. Here are just three that I noticed and would like to share with you. When i was about to write I saw a whole lot of options I never heard about. My only issue was that is worked on Windows. And was always very reliable when it was called upon. If you are on Windows, there’s a 90% chance you coded with this editor. The only disadvantage I have found out is that plugins might be buggy since they are not tested as to how they might work against others plugins. Which means you are in the right company. Also, I read somewhere that sublime plugins are written in Python. It’s like a good balance between not feeling like the IDE is doing all the work for you and having just enough work to do without feeling overburdened. It has lots of cool stuff like code colors and folder navigation in a simplistic way that entices even the most hard core coder. It was only until about 2012, that this editor, started to get a lot of attention from developers. I was surprised people used it in Python to be honest. I especially loved the different themes I could choose from. not only for Python, but especially for PHP. You can also use it with Aptana Studio.Īptana was my preferred option for a long time. Its a Python IDE for eclipse with Django support, code completion, code analysis, navigation, remote debugging, interactive console and much more. Use pydev, install it as a plugin for Eclipse. Who hasn’t used Eclipse in one stage or another in their development lifespan. Our list of regular to use IDEs are not scary! There are a few IDEs out there that the bulk of programmers have been exposed to, and consequently depend on. So just get a good machine, and that would be the end of the story.ĭon’t be scared. After setup is done, it’s as fast as anything you can imagine. Well, Pycharm is only slow on startup ( for extremely slow machines ). What is the catch ? It can’t be all good. You don’t know what that means! It means no re-learning is required when using IDEs in other languages. For example RubyMine (Ruby), PhpStorm(PHP), WebStorm (Node, HTML), just to name a few.Īnd the cool thing is their commands work the same way on all of these different products. It must ring a bell, and that’s because Android Studio is based on the IntelliJ IDEA. I like it because it is by JetBrains, creator of the popular Java IDE- IntelliJ IDEA. Its packed with features such as code completion ( intellisense ), code analysis ( like unused code etc), sweet code navigation and so much more. Pycharm Community Edition ( it is free & open source version ).The option, I prefer is P圜harm (so I’m going to speak on it a bit). With both you have academic and developer licenses. Trust me when I say, these IDEs are worth every cent. If you are looking for an IDE that has everything, then I came across two options as something you all might be interested in P圜harm or WingIDE. I want it allĮverything comes at a fair price. I am not a good singer, so here’s the clip. That reminds me of the song by Queen, “ I want it all, I want it all & I want it now”. In the end, always use whichever makes you sparkle behind the laptop. You could also use Notepad, Gedit or Geany. You could code via the terminal and just stick to editors like Vim or Nano. How geeky can you get ? Are you trying to prove to the world that you don’t need an IDE.
